Although your mask, tube, and humidifier chamber might look clean on the outside, oftentimes there are still hidden germs which might cause you to get sick if not properly cleaned. So, one of the most important aspects of CPAP therapy is cleaning your CPAP supplies.

If you’re like most people, you’re probably tired of cleaning your CPAP mask, tubing, and other supplies by hand with soap and water each day, and looking to upgrade to a new CPAP cleaning machine to make cleaning your CPAP supplies significantly easier.

However, one of the biggest challenges people have when purchasing a CPAP cleaner is understanding which machine is right for them. There are quite a few different options, and we want to help you find one that will fit your unique needs.

So, fear not!

In this article, we will give you our CPAP cleaner reviews and discuss some of the key differences between them to hopefully help you choose the right one!

What Are the Most Popular CPAP Cleaning Machines?

In the CPAP cleaner market, the 3 most popular cleaning machines are: the SoClean 2, the Sleep8, and the Lumin.

CPAP Cleaner Comparison: SoClean, Sleep8, LuminComparison Between Lumin, Sleep8, and SoCleanAlthough all three CPAP cleaning machines ultimately serve the same purpose (keeping your CPAP supplies squeaky clean and sanitized), each one has a more defined niche where it really shines. So, whether you are looking for a machine to use on the go, at home, or one that doesn’t use ozone, we have the perfect options for you!

The Sleep8 – Perfect for People on the Go

Sleep8 CPAP CleanerThe Sleep8 has become a hit among CPAP users, mainly due to its ease of use and great portability. As the smallest and lightest CPAP cleaner, it has become the ideal choice for people who are on the go or people who are just looking for a smaller, more compact cleaner for home use.

To clean your supplies with the Sleep8, all you need to do is put your mask, tube, and humidifier chamber in the Sleep8 bag, press go, and your supplies will be cleaned in one hour. To clean supplies, the Sleep8 uses activated oxygen, or “ozone,” to disinfect everything.

Product Highlights:

  • Small and lightweight
  • Easy to use
  • Perfect for people on the go
  • Automatically turns off when sanitizing is complete
  • No adapters needed
  • Can be used wirelessly (one charge lasts several days)
  • 18-month warranty
  • Covered by FSA/HSA cards

Downsides:

  • Need to buy replacement bags (each bag lasts 3 months)
  • Can cause mask discoloration if you don’t wipe equipment down first
  • Not compatible with memory foam masks (i.e. AirTouch F20 Full Face Mask)

The SoClean – Perfect for Daily Home Use

SoClean 2The SoClean has been one of the most popular CPAP cleaning machines on the market for years for a reason. This cleaner is durable, great for home use, and easy to use, making it one of the most popular machines for our customers. In addition, it requires only one button push to start the cycle, and it will automatically stop after the cycle has completed.

To use the SoClean, all you need to do is put your mask inside (while it’s connected to your CPAP machine), connect your humidifier chamber, and hit go. After it starts, the machine will use ozone to sanitize your mask, tube, and humidifier chamber.

Product Highlights:

  • Great for home use
  • Easy to use
  • Automatically stops after sanitization
  • 1-push start
  • Cleans inside of CPAP machine
  • 24-month warranty
  • Covered by FSA/HSA cards

Downsides:

  • Requires adapters for different CPAP machines (and these adapters must remain connected to the SoClean)
  • Can cause mask discoloration if you don’t wipe equipment down first
  • Not compatible with memory foam masks (i.e. AirTouch F20 Full Face Mask)
  • Filter has to be changed every 6 months

The Lumin – Perfect UV Sanitizer and Great for Home Use

Lumin CPAP CleanerOne of the biggest draws for the Lumin is that, unlike the Sleep8 and SoClean, it uses UV light to sanitize your CPAP supplies. Another reason that this machine has become increasingly more popular is due to its very short 5-minute cycle time (yes, only 5 minutes!).

To use the Lumin, all you need to do is put your mask or humidifier chamber inside of the Lumin’s cleaning chamber, press the power button, and then your supplies will be sanitized using UV light

Product Highlights:

  • Uses UV light to sanitize
  • Good for home use
  • Fast sanitization cycle (5 minutes)
  • Automatically stops after sanitization
  • Easy-to-use
  • 24-month warranty
  • No replacement supplies needed
  • Covered by FSA/HSA cards

Downsides:

  • Limited capacity (can’t clean all supplies at one time)
  • Unable to sanitize tubing (can purchase Lumin Bullet add-on for tube cleaning)
  • Not travel friendly (due to large size)

Which CPAP Cleaner Will Work with My CPAP?

Good news! All of these CPAP cleaners will work with any CPAP. However, the SoClean will require an additional adapter for most CPAPs.
