Our ResMed AirSense 10 Review
Whether you’re looking to upgrade your machine or you’re brand new to CPAP, buying a new CPAP can be a bit intimidating. Navigating all of the available information can be confusing and choosing a great machine can be the difference between a great night of sleep and feeling like a zombie in the morning.
To help you get the information you need, we’ll be reviewing the most popular CPAP machine on the market, ResMed’s AirSense 10 Autoset.
What is the AirSense 10?
The AirSense 10 AutoSet is the latest CPAP device from ResMed, and it’s also become the most popular CPAP currently on the market. So, what makes the ResMed AirSense 10 so popular?
Well, it comes down to its wide variety of features which can make your CPAP therapy easier and more comfortable. Some of those highlights include:
- Automatically Detecting and Adjusting to the Pressure You Need (Auto-Titration)
- Decreasing Air Pressure When You Exhale (Expiratory Pressure Relief)
- Whisper-Quiet While in Use
- SmartStart and AutoRamp Features to Help You Fall Asleep
- Allows You to Easily Monitor Your Therapy
What’s Great About the AirSense 10?
One of the best AirSense 10 features is its ability to Auto-Titrate. Basically, the AirSense 10 will automatically detect your ideal pressure and adjust accordingly, ensuring you get the exact therapy you need.
Because of this, you won’t need to get another sleep study to determine your pressure if you experience any changes in your lifestyle (weight fluctuations, changing habits, etc.); instead, simply let ResMed’s AirSense 10 work it’s magic!
2. Expiratory Pressure Relief (EPR)
One of the best additions to the new AirSense 10 CPAP is the Expiratory Pressure Relief. Essentially, the AirSense 10 will reduce the pressure when you exhale, making it easier and more comfortable to breathe with your CPAP mask on. This will allow you to get the sleep you deserve and get the most out of your CPAP therapy.
3. Whisper Quiet
One of the biggest complaints about CPAPs (particularly earlier generations of CPAPs) is that they make so much noise that you can’t sleep anyway! So, one of the best features about the AirSense 10 is the whisper-quiet motor (just under 27 decibels) which:
- Makes it easier for you to sleep
- Makes it easier for your partner to sleep
- Ensures you get the best therapy possible
4. SmartStart and AutoRamp Features to Help You Fall Asleep
The SmartStart and AutoRamp features are great new additions to the AirSense to help you fall asleep. The SmartStart feature automatically begins therapy (at a lower pressure) when it senses your first breath into the mask. Once the CPAP machine detects you are asleep, AutoRamp will slowly increase the pressure to the level you need.
5. Easily Monitor Your Therapy
The last benefit that our customers love about the AirSense 10 is the ease at which it allows you to track and manage your CPAP Therapy. With a new cellular modem and ResMed’s myAir application, you’ll be able to easily:
- See your sleep reports and monitor your progress
- Have your doctor remotely change your settings
- Maintain compliance with your insurance or Medicare
What’s Not as Great About the AirSense 10?
Overall, there isn’t much not to like about the AirSense 10. The machine is top notch and is jam packed with features, but because of that:
- The AirSense 10 is a bit pricey at $923
- The machine is relatively big and not as easy to travel with
- It has to be used with a humidifier
Are There Payment Options for the AirSense 10?
Even though the machine is a bit pricey compared to some other machines on the market, Easy Breathe does have payment plan options for ResMed’s AirSense 10 (starting at $99 down) which help make the machine more affordable! Or, you can check to see if your new machine would be covered insurance with our Insurance Checker.
