What are GLP-1s and do they help with sleep apnea?
GLP-1 medications are new treatments for type 2 diabetes and obesity. They work by mimicking a natural hormone to help people keep their blood sugar levels steady and lose weight.
In addition to managing weight loss, emerging research suggests GLP-1s can also play a role in mitigating sleep apnea symptoms. Recent studies found that Ozempic can positively impact sleep apnea symptoms, demonstrating:
- A weekly injection helped obese participants with at least one weight-related comorbidity, such as sleep apnea, lose significant amounts of weight.1
- A daily dose for four weeks led to 70% of sleep apnea patients experiencing a reduction of approximately 20 sleep apnea events per hour.1
- Decreased tongue fat in individuals with obesity-related sleep apnea, potentially preventing obstructed airways during sleep.1
How can you get started on GLP-1s?
- Simply fill out the intake form to get started. You’ll receive an email with next steps (please check your junk mail if you don’t see it in your inbox). We’ll ask for your credit card information upfront, but rest assured, we won’t charge your card until you’ve had your consultation with a healthcare provider.
- Once we review your intake form and confirm your eligibility, you’ll receive a link to schedule your Telehealth consultation.
- Following your consultation, your card will be charged, and you can expect to receive your shipment within 7-10 business days.
- About 2 1/2 weeks after your initial shipment, we’ll reach out to discuss subsequent prescriptions and ensure you stay on track with your weight loss journey.
Due to high demand, the current backlog for telemedicine consultations is up to 10 business days. We understand that this delay can be frustrating for anyone who is ready to start GLP-1 immediately, and we wish the turnaround were faster. However, our best advice is to book your consultation as soon as possible. Given the explosive growth in demand for GLP-1, it’s more likely that wait times will increase than decrease in the near future. Secure your spot now to start your weight loss journey sooner!

Can GLP-1s be used with CPAPs?
Eli Lilly, the manufacturer of Zepbound, released preliminary findings on the effect of their drug on sleep apnea patients. Lilly’s study focused on two groups of international males, each participant receiving injections of Zepbound at doses ranging from 10 to 15 mg over a year. The results showed:
- The first group took Zepbound without CPAP and experienced a 55% decrease in their apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) scores, equivalent to 27 fewer AHI events per hour.2
- The second group took Zepbound while using CPAP and experienced a 63% decrease in their apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) scores, equivalent to 30.4 fewer AHI events per hour.2
- Both groups experienced an almost 20% reduction in their body weight.2
By coupling the metabolic benefits of GLP-1s with the respiratory support of CPAP therapy, sleep apnea treatment may become more effective than ever before.3
